Panchmel dal is originally comes from Rajasthan which is the combination of five different types of lentils which include tuar dal, chana dal, urad dal, moong dal,and masoor dal.It is also known as PANCHKUTI DAL. It is loaded of full protein and very healthy . It goes with both roti and rice and preffered as side dish . It has some spices too which gives a special aroma to the dal.

Today we will learn to make this Panchmel Dal step by step….

Preparation Time– 10 min

cook time– 20 to 25 min

Total time in making–30 to 35 min

Serves– 3 to 4 person

Cooking difficulty– medium

Cuisine– Indian ( Rajasthani)

Ingredients

  1. Dal- 1/2 cup ( all five dal)
  2. Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  3. Onion- 1 medium sized
  4. Tomato – 1
  5. Ginger-Garlic paste
  6. Cumin seed- 1 tsp
  7. Garam masala- 1 tsp
  8. Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  9. Red chilli powder
  10. Tadka red chilli – 1
  11. Bay leaf
  12. Hing- 1 pinch
  13. Desi Ghee
  14. Coriander leaves

METHOD

1. Take all five dal ( tuar dal, chana cal, hari moong dal, urad  dal,masoor dal) and wash it .

2.Now pressure cook the mix dal with turmeric powder and salt.

3. Take a pan and pour the ghee into the pan and add bay leaf,hing and tadke wali mirchi ,cumin seeds then add garlic.

4. Add onion and saute it till it becomes light brown then add all spices as mentioned and mix it well.

5. Then pour the boiled dal and let it be cook for 10 min. and the add coriander leaves.

6. Now your panchmel or panchkuti dal is ready to serve with roti and rice.
